Crater Lake 4-Day Adventure

March 24, 2017 - March 27, 2017

| $800

crater lake sliderFor those desiring a winter backcountry adventure in a spectacular setting, skiing around Crater Lake on the unplowed Rim Drive is an unforgettable experience.

Voted by Backpacker Magazine, “Best Damn Weekend ever: Oregon’s Crater Lake,” Crater Lake National Park receives an average of 44 feet of snow every year. During the winter, trails and unploughed roads provide skiers and snowshoers with access to open slopes, dense forests, and breathtaking views, making Crater Lake ideal for both day-trippers and backcountry visitors. Once an active volcano (Mount Mazama), this now-clear deep blue crater lake is 6 miles across and nearly 600 meters deep at its maximum depth (it’s the deepest lake in the U.S. and 9th deepest in the world).  With 100 miles of hiking trails offered in Crater Lake National Park there is plenty to explore and discover.

Experience the magic of Crater Lake in the winter!  Experience what only about 350 people see a year.  This trip is designed for the beginning winter camper looking to learn the needed skills to go out and camp in the snow by yourself.  We will provide all the gear you need snowshoes, backpack, tent, stove, sleeping pad, etc. all you need to do is show up with clothing and shoes for the adventure.

DAY ONE: Starting at our office in Troutdale, we will load the van and drive the 5 hours down to a camping location near Crater Lake to prepare for our hike starting the following morning.
