Michelle Haruvi (Managing Director) and Katie Umekubo
A little bit about us..
Katie was born and raised in San Diego, CA. She grew up playing competitive tennis and had an early interest in nature and wildlife - mostly backyard adventures at the time. Her love of the outdoors sparked lots of camping and backpacking during her college years and while studying at the University of Colorado Law School. And that combined with her penchant for environmental policy, ultimately led to her current position as a Senior Attorney and Lands Division Managing Director for the Natural Resources Defense Council.
Michelle was born and raised in New York City. She also played competitive junior tennis and met Katie while playing together on the Women's Tennis Team at Columbia University. From a young age, Michelle developed a love for skiing and dabbled in competitive racing (embracing the icy mountains of the East). This prepared her for her time as a ski instructor in Colorado and other winter sports adventures where she continues her quest to conquer powder.
Michelle also loves travel and pretty much any new adventure, which led to her Masters degree in hospitality at NYU. It's also how Katie was able to convince a Manhattanite to embrace road trips, camping and backpacking across the West and abroad. Michelle and Katie now have two new adventurers, Samuel (8) and Joseph (5), and their giant pup, Henry (11), in tow.
